The Collectors Series Idea:

On a trip to NYC in 2015, I contacted The Gonz to see if he wanted to session Chelsea Pier 62 skatepark with me. While we were skating, legendary photographer Giovanni Reda showed up. Gonz said, how about doing a Frontside invert? After a few attempts, I got it. The photo came out amazing!!!
I told Gonz I was thinking about doing a board series for my 40th year of being a pro, with a few tricks I had invented during that time, one of them being the Frontside Invert. I asked what he thought about drawing me a few graphics. He happily agreed. I wanted to come out with the boards in 2019 which would have been 40 years of being pro, but with the busyness of life, it never happened. That is why I decided last year that this has to happen in 2022, so here we are!!!

My original Hobie Model in 1979, as pictured in this Hobie Ad, was 10”x30”. This is the board that I made up for all three tricks of the collectors series. For the Collector Series board, I wanted a Modernized version of my Hobie Board and lengthen it to 32.5’x10” with a 6.5“ tail, a larger nose at 6.5”, and a 15” WB. Made in the USA by Watson Laminates, 7ply maple, and 6 Color hand-screened graphics.
